Proposed Amendments, UKSOS Constitution

Proposed Amendments in the Constitution of Uttarakhand State Ophthalmological Society (UKSOS) registered as “Himalayan Ophthalmological Society” in state of Uttarakhand under Society act of of India 1965 :

Addition in Article XXII : (Conferences)

The following will be signatories in the various certificates of the conferences of UKSOS :

  • Certificate of participation :
  • The President, UKSOS
  • Hon. Secretary, UKSOS
  • Organizing Chairperson of the Conference
  • Chief Organizing Secretary of the conference
  • Certificate of Scientific Presentations :
  • The President, UKSOS
  • Hon. Secretary, UKSOS
  • Chairperson, Scientific Committee
  • Chairperson, ARC (UKSOS); when program is organized by ARC, UKSOS
  • “Certificate of participation” when conference is organized jointly with any other body/association :
  • The President, UKSOS
  • Hon. Secretary, UKSOS
  • Organizing Chairperson of the Conference
  • Chief Organizing Secretary of the Conference in addition to :
    - The President of other body / association
    - Hon. Secretary of other body / association (or as suggested by the other body / association)
  • “Certificate of Scientific presentation” when the conference is organised jointly with any other body / association :
  • The President, UKSOS
  • Hon. Secretary, UKSOS
  • Chairperson, Scientific Committee
  • Chairperson ARC, UKSOS, when the meeting / conference is organized by ARC in addition to :

Addition in Article XXV : Amendment to the byelaws :
  • The website of UKSOS will be started. UKSOS will pay for starting the website and all the recurring expenses. Hon. Secretary, UKSOS will be incharge of the website and responsible for updation of the website and its maintenance. Hon. Secretary in consultation with the President of UKSOS can appoint any person / member to see affairs of website. Minutes of all meetings has to be added in website and has to be emailed to the members.
  • Hon. Secretary will arrange communications and messages to members and other person concerned through the medium of WhattsApp, SMS, any other social media group, Email and hard copy. He will make two whatsApp groups for purpose of communication.
  • Local organizing Committee (LOC) of conference can send intimation and messages in any form to the members of UKSOS and persons concerned only regarding the organization of conference and successful completion of the Conference taking contact details from organizing Secretary and Chairman Scientific Committee.
  • The Award Committee of UKSOS in consultation with the President and Hon. Secretary of UKSOS as Ex-officio members will finalize all the oration / Awards. The following oration and award will be instituted by UKSOS :
  • UKSOS National Lifetime Achievement Award : To an eminent Ophthalmologist of India, who has done distinguished service in the field of Ophthalmology in India or abroad.
    The award is open for one time contribution of Rs 10,00,000/- (Rupees Ten Lac Only) subject to increase for any UKSOS member.
  • Dr. B. K. Oli Lifetime Achievement Award of UKSOS : Awarded to Senior Ophthalmologist from Uttarakhand of who has done yeoman service in the field of Ophthalmology.
  • Dr R. N. Singh Achiever's Award : Awarded to young Ophthalmologists aged less than 45 years who has done distinguished academic achievement at national or international level in the preceding year.
  • Dr. R. J. K. Singh Award for Community Ophthalmology : Awarded to Ophthalmologist / Institution / NGO for distinguished service in Community Ophthalmology in India or abroad preferably during the preceeding year, preferably in Uttarakhand. This award cannot be awarded to same person or institution again.
  • Dr. C Shekhar Grover Oration : The oration is awarded to the ophthalmologist of national or international repute.
  • Dr. Vinod Arora Oration : The oration is awarded to an ophthalmologist for work done in the field of refractive surgery in in India or abroad.
  • Dr. A. K. Mehrotra Best Poster Award : Awarded to the best ophthalmic poster during the annual conference of UKSOS.
    - It carries an award of Rs 5,000 with citation.
    - The presenter should be registered delegate to the current Annual Conference of UKSOS.
  • Dr. M. C. Luthra Gold Medal : Awarded to the best free paper presented during the annual conference of UKSOS.
    - The presenter should be the member of UKSOS until the current annual conference.
    - According to present arrangement of AIOS, the best awarded paper will be automatically selected for presentation in next AIOC. His / Her registration fee for AIOS will be waved-off. AIOS will also cover his travel expenses to the maximum of Rs 10,000/-. It also carries award of Rs 10,000/- from UKSOS along with the citation.
  • Dr. Satanshu Mathur Best Video Award : Awarded to the best video presented during the annual conference of UKSOS by a registered delegate of the current annual conference.
  • UKSOS Gold Medal : Can be added in an annual conference by the President, UKSOS in consultation with Hon. Secretary, UKSOS and Chairperson, Awards Committee for benefit of scientific growth of UKSOS.
  • Any Gold medal can be added in an annual Conference by the President, UKSOS in Consultation with Executive body.
  • UKSOS will elect chairperson of Academic Research Committee (ARC) of UKSOS, who will nominate its two members to carry out UKSOS Academic research programs.
  • Contribution from Local Organising Committee (LOC) of a Particular Conference : LOC will compulsorily give minimum of 30% of the trade sponsorship money received in a Conference to the UKSOS body. All the conference sponsorship money will be received by UKSOS and UKSOS will transfer the money to LOC to conduct the event.
  • Only life members will be made in the UKSOS society. Any old annual member will have to deposit full life membership fee to become life member of UKSOS for future. The life membership fee at present is Rs 2,000. Revision of the contribution to life membership may be done from time to time if passed in GBM.
  • The following office bearers will occupy chair on the dias during the installation ceremony of the conference in addition to the Chief Guest and Guest of honour :

  • The President Elect, UKSOS
  • Hon. Secretary, UKSOS
  • Organizing Chairperson of LOC
  • Chief Organising Secretary of LOC
  • Chairperson, Scientific Committee, UKSOS (subject to availability of seat on the dias)
  • Master of Ceremony
  • In case of joint meeting with another body / society, following additional office bearers will also occupy chair on the dias :
  • President of the body
  • President Elect of the body
  • Hon. Secretary of the body
  • Chairperson, Scientific Program of the body (subject to availability of seat on the dias)
  • Any office bearers can be requested to withdraw from dias chair on dias in case of scarcity of seat on the dias on the said program.
